Bon Odori 2007

Bon Odori 2007 Taihen Idesu Ne!!!!

I'm back once again in the luxury of air-conditioning and internet connection, trying to keep my eyes open as I upload pictures from Bon Odori, the Japanese Festival that was held in a stadium in Shah Alam.

Oh, but before that, here are pics I promised to post up...

Me

Jillian and me, after orientation with the seniors.. the flour was SALTY!!!!!

Anyway, I was asked to return to Taylor's this morning to collect more Musical Night tickets to sell (DARN IT). And when I entered the MPH, I saw a sight that I had dearly missed, the song I had not played for ages ; The string ensemble playing Cristofori's dream. Ho Sheng brandished his violin, and I went up the stage, took my place, and played together with them. OMG...I HAD NO IDEA I MISSED THE STRING ENSEMBLE THAT MUCH!!! Ok, I was feeling kinda emo...I met Ling Hui, Faye, Joanne, and the rest of the gang, and realised how much I actually missed the times I played together with them...

Musical Night is still in terrible crisis, though. And just want to rant a little here; committees are not robots, not superhumans nor servants, and are supposed to be a team that listens to each other and accept each other's views. Teammates should not kept in the dark, heeding orders without questioning judgement. No one should ignore the views of his teammates, no one should expect everyone to follow 100% as instructed, no one should demand so much, overlooking the reasonable values and needs of his teammates. Organising an event is throughly fun, but its NOT that simple. Its NOT going to work out like fairy tales that always end with happily ever after. This is not secondary school, when adults play a major role in organising such huge events. This is the REAL WORLD. STOP BEING SO DISILLUSIONED THAT EVERYTHING'S GOING TURN OUT FINE, FACE THIS REALITY AND START THINKING LOGICALLY, AND MAYBE TRY HAVE SOME UNDERSTANDING TOWARDS THE SITUATION OF ALL TEAMMATES.

Faye then joined me, Jillian, Christina, Judy & Xiang Xiang to pyramid, and everyone squashed into my mom's little Kelisa for the journey. So while I was happily enjoying the front seat, I gloated endlessly at the pack of sardines behind that were squashed on top of each other. And well, the situation repeated several times, from Taylor's to Pyramid, Pyramid to Taylors, Taylors to KTM station, and finally Bon Odori to Akasia (which I squashed along...)
Xiang Xiang: Ouch, cramp!
Judy & Christina: *SS-ing*
Jillian: Stop squirming!!!
Faye: Never mind, we're getting "healthy..."
Later in the afternoon, we met up in the KTM station with the rest of the Anime Society members. It was GREAT seeing them again, and we embarkd
Judy and Xiang Xiang followed on the KTM to Shah Alam to get back to Shah Alam, while Jillian tagged along with the rest of the anime society to the fest that every otaku was dying to go, the Bon Odori. Along the way, most of our chatter was focused on the topic of MN...Man, I'll be glad when its over...............................
Faye, Janette, me, and Wei Shan at the KTM station. This was supposed to be a Lucky Star pose, but looks like it didn't exactly work out that way...hehe...
In the bus...Ian blocked the entire aisle of the bus just taking this photo...
The stadium was packed with people, from real true blue Japanese to enthusiastic (and kinda jakun-ded) Malaysian visitors like us...
Took a bus to the stadium, where all of us couldn't stop ooh-ing and aah-ing over the huge crowd, the dance & drum stage, and the FOOD STALLS!!! The highlight was trying out all the Japanese food, so there we went, buying small amounts of food from stall after stall, then pooling the food together and taking bites of everything.
FIRST STOP:

And here are some of the various flavours of Japanese Ice-Cream:

Cheese Ice Cream

Green Tea Ice Cream

Faye eating a chocolate & peanut ice-cream

And the various kinds of exotic Japanese food, all of which I've never sampled before...Kinda expensice though, cos everything was either priced at RM3 or RM6...

Tanuki Udon: The diameter of the mee was huge!!!

Takoyaki: Octopus ball...RM6 for 6 pieces...Oishi desu ga taihen takai desu!! (delicious, but very expensive)

Yakisoba: Not much of a difference from Fried mee...

Onigiri: Rice wrapped in seaweed...There were different fillings inside...

Okonomi Yaki: Japanese pan cake...Mm...Oishi desu...

(As usual, Faye and I snapped all sorts of pics of the food and the atmosphere...Typical blogger addicts...^^)

After stuffing ourselves with the food, we finally proceeded to the stage, where everyon danced Japanese traditional dances all around. All the four dances was pretty easy to get as the steps kept repeating, and it was really fun when everyone danced together...

It was only after the dance that we all hitched a ride with Hui Yen's parents back home: Jillian to Akasia, Faye and Janette to My Place, and me, back home. I really really enjoyed...I'm sure everyone did too...I haven't learned ehough keyoshi (adjectives) to describe it fully...It was really a new experience that I never thought I'll ever get the chance to try...and well, LETS GO AGAIN NEXT YEAR, SHALL WE??!!

The drummers, and the stage where they danced.

Siak Gee and I...she looks so cute in her yukata!!!!!!!

Faye, me, and Jillian
