Comment on Shu's previous post

My comment is a bit long,i think..So i write it as a post..

Shu,i seriouly dunno wat to write as comment..Hehe..But wat i can say is, i'm lost..I dun know what i want..I dun have those passion..Ya,i admit tat i like music,really like it,but u n i know tat v can't really take music as our main career,maybe it can be our part time career..My dad said if i really like music,just take a degree on other field first.after taking d degree,then only study music as part time..My dad let me choose wat i want to study,but now d problem is, i,myself dun know wat i want.My dad said if i really want to study medicine,go ahead..But DO I REALLY WAN TO BE A DOCTOR??Confuse...

I like Science..But other than medicine,pharmacy,dentistry,other career that related to science r about research..Doing research in Malaysia dun have bright future..OK,just talk bout got bright future or not,i heard my fren said if u really wan to do research,u must very sure tat u really really like science.Cos wat u will do everyday is research research n research.If u fail,people won;'t sponsor u to do research anymore,means u got no job already..Somemore have to stay in d lab everyday..

If medicine,u really must have d passion to b a doctor.Dun just bcos 'doctor' sounds great n profession..But till now,i still dun have those passion.Plus,i'm not really that clever,smart n hardworking.I scared i can't cope with those hard work tat i will have if i study medicine..Somemore it's such a long way to go,n it's very expensive!!!

Pharmacy n dentistry??Not really interested..So how??Someone pls teach me what to do?

Oh ya,my family also always ask me to study law..BUT m i suitable???I dun know..But i dun like to memorise so many law..Haha..Cos i got bad memory..'Lao ren chi dai zhen'

My lecturer told us tat if u really want to apply for good uni especially medicine,u must apply it soon,around this July..But i also haven decide what to study..Feel very stress..It's like u have to make a big decision tat will affect ur whole life..really scared tat i will make a wrong decision..=(

Would appreciate some comments on this...Thanks...

Dunno what spurred me to write this, but I suppose its after stumbling onto a friend's online (note: way outdated) journal post that I thought of putting this into words. Not to mention most of the friends I have who are at that particular stage in life where everyone has to make that dreaded decision on where they want their path of life to go from here.

I'm lucky. I got through that point early, pondering whether to follow the norm and everyone's expectations and pursue medicine, or follow my passion and take up Vet Science. So, made a win-win deal with my parents...Scholarship=Vet Science, No scholarship=Medicine. But even till now, I still feel like I'm not living up to expectations by not taking up medicine as I was expected to (my entire autograph book is covered with wishes for to be a great doctor...and btw, I was viewed to be the first ever doctor in the entire family...), and taking up Veterinary instead. (Trust me, the day to day comments I get from people, or the pained smiles as they tell me "No, its good, its a good choice" are less than encouraging...)

Still..At least, I discovered what I truly wanted, and am on my way (I hope) towards achieving it.

But things are different with others I know, and somehow, I just feel like ranting over it.

The thing is, everyone is so preoccupied with the material aspects of life, no one actually realises what really matters. Everyone's (ok, most of the older generation anyway) vision of a successful person is someone with a Dr.......MBBS in their name and more money than they'll ever find use for. Is that why so many parents are pushing their kids to do medicine nowadays?

From what I've heard about the horde of students who went for the JPA hospital attachment, most of them actually chose medicine for the oldest reasons in the book: I want to be rich, or My dad is a doctor, or My mom wanted me to do this, or I got 15/16/17 A1s so I wanna do medicine.

I wonder how many of them actually have the genuine passion to become a really good doctor.

Anyway, back to the point. So many of my friends wanna go for something different but falter, be it due to their parents, or their own self esteem, or the seemingly uncertain future of their career path...I guess it IS kinda scary to take the plunge into a career path that you don't know much about, have no role models to follow; I felt the same way about Vet Science. No one I know has ever done it before, and practically throughout my entire life, vets had always been associated with "no future in Malaysia". Taking the plunge into the unknown, one might say.

But then again, it all lies with what you have the passion for.

Passion. I've been trying to give Yen the real defination for that for ages now. The thing is, there's a huge difference between interest and passion yet frankly, I haven't worked out how to distinguish between the two. Sort of like; I really really really like music, but if I were to make a career out of it, I'll probably end up detesting it in the end. I used to love writing, but eversince I became serious about it and started joining competitions, I realised that it took out all the fun in writing. But when it comes to animals, somehow I felt that no matter how pressured life could get, I would still smile through it (I may be wrong, but still...). I don't get it either...Man, can someone comment on this?

But it all comes down to what you want in life. Do you wanna be rich, or live your life as dictated by someone else, or be different from everyone, or is job satisfaction of paramount importance? To me, its sad when someone is forced to do something they never wanted to do just because they felt they had to.

And man, it doesn't help when people tell you that its alright to make your own choice, that its up to you what you wanna do, but when it comes down to it, you KNOW they do not approve at your choice. And when you choose to do what they want, they'll tell you that you chose it yourself. Pah...

Whether you're deciding between marine biology and graphic design, medicine and architecture, engineering and music; its up to you, your passion, your motive in life...Haha...Dare to be different people, and chase your dreams...

Still dunno why I wrote this...TTMS...Anyone going through the same stage? Comments?

On a brighter note...here are some pics, and short stuff on what's been going on so far......

Dong and I, drenched from head to toe and dripping wet after dashing all the way from a meeting in ADP to the main campus in a downpour. Haha...couldn't afford an umbrella, no one to come to our rescue...So, the only alternative was to stuff all the electronic items in my bag and run!!!

Was called back to SPCA on Sunday to give a tour to a big group of visitors. Turns out, they were none other than SJBA themselves!!! Anyway, Dr Pushpa took me to the bungalow nearby where there were a few dogs there for neutering. I got to feed them some medicine...practical training for Vet Science, huh? Lol...and Tesco was there to guard the place! Long time no see...I wondered where that dog had got off too...

Christopher, force-feeding Mr Lai a (Note: wax-coated) biscuit for his birthday. Man, I'm really gonna miss this class...really really a bunch of fun...

It was probably my last day in strings, so couldn't resist SS-ing a little and taking photos. (That's Su Ann, Joanne, and me btw...) Will take more if we really have practice during the hols...

Taylors String Ensemble (or at least part of it) From left: Su Lynn, me, Wan Kimm, Su Ann, Joanne, Rita, and Jo Ann. Below: our captain (and one and only guy), Ho Sheng

Cheers everyone...do comment on the issue above...have a nice day, minasan...

Tagged...Tan Yang and Lixian, make sure you do it, ya...

Tagged by Faye ...

Haha...Its probably not fair for me to be doing this as I've already read the meaning, but seeing as I've more or less forgotten them (How am I supposed to remember all that symbolic stuff anyway?) ...here goes...

Write a story, by answering these questions as if you're telling a story (PS: I'll be doing this like Faye's...Q & A only... )

So you're walking along in a forest. What season is it?
Erm...spring...A nice, breezy morning, with the birds chirping in the sky (this is so fairytale-like)perfect to reconnect with nature and go for a stroll with my dog...haha...

After a while, you come to a wall. What kind of wall is it? (height, material, shape, etc..)
Hmm...An old moss-covered brick wall, covered in creepers and vines and perhaps with a few clumps of bushes... (Hey, its a Forest after all...)

What do you do about it?
Climb on top, then talk my altophobic self into climbing down.

Further in the forest, you happen upon a cup. Describe the cup.
Paper cup from KFC, with the remnants of some Coke inside that ants are feasting on...

What do you do with it (if anything)?
Sigh, mutter about how irresponsible some people can be, then walk on. Don't feel like getting my hands dirty at the moment, and its not like there is a dustbin around...=P

Next you spot a knife. Describe the knife.
An ancient dagger, with some carvings on the hilt and a gleaming blade.

What do you do with it (if anything)?
Shudder...Imagination running wild, trying to what horrors happened here before...hurry away. No way I'll pick that up, I'm too careless and may cut myself instead...plus it may be cursed...=P =P =P

Next you come across a body of water. What type of body of water is it?
Rapids, like the one I saw in Pahang...Fast-flowing current and loads of boulders...

What do you do about it?
Walk a distance from the bank...wouldn't want to fall in...

Finally, the path you seemed to have made for yourself looks like it ends at a cave. What do you think of it?
Interesting...Lets get exploring...

What do you do about it?
Go in warily, try to spot some wildlife, take some pictures with my camera, then go off and maybe try exploring some other routes. Or if its too late, maybe I'll just head off home...Sleep...*yawn*

The End

Believe it or not, all these actually has a meaning...some weird symbolism...And well, I can't decipher some of what my answers mean either...

Oh well, just to pass the time.....

This is what the story means:

The journey through the forest represents your life.

The way you feel about the season you picked represents the way you feel about life. If it's winter in your story and you love winter, you are enjoying your life.

The wall represents your problems in life. The height, material, and shape is your view of your problems' surmountability. What you do about it is how you face your problems.

The cup means your friends. What you do with it is you feel about them or how you treat them.

The knife is your view of marriage. What you do with it is how you feel about it.

The body of water is your view of sex. Was it a large ocean of opportunity? Was it a dirty puddle? Did you jump in? Did you drink it up? Did you pass it by?

The cave is your view of death. If you went in, you are not afraid of death.

Take pictures of "death"...Right...................................................

I tag Hui Yen, Wan Kimm, Tan Yang, Lixian, Hee Ian, Erik. Try do it truthfully, ya...Enjoy yourselves...

MPH Young Writers Photoshoot

A taste of fame...photoshoots...

Frankly, I was very suprised when MPH gave me a call (during Maths, mind you) and asked me to go for a photoshoot. Apparently, they had a photoshoot that spanned over 3 days at different locations, and finally, after a while of trying to find a proper timing that did not clash with String Ensemble practice, I settled on Tuesday. (chance to ponteng...Wakaka...)

Well, being "punctual", Mom and I reached Midvalley at 9, when all the shops were still closed, prompting us to kill time in McDonalds before going for the photoshoot.

Man, when they said make up and hairdo, they MEANT it.

Immediately after I changed, someone ushered me to Bobbi Brown (I actually thought it was some fast food thingy, like Mary Brown...) but it turned out to be some cosmetics shop. And well, you guys know me well enough, I NEVER go for make-up sessions. Frankly, I felt really weird, sitting there and getting my face powdered...*sneeze*

And well, as if that wasn't bad enough, the moment I got back, someone else promptly took me off for a "hairdo" several floors higher, at A Cut Above. Wow, that's a place I've never ever thought of entering before! I mean, my usual haircut costs about 7 bucks, at a room behind a dobi..........

(mental note to self: A cheap shop behind the dobi can really be much better)

My hair was...*speechless*...

Put it this way, with that hair, I can audition for Simba in Lion King and probably get the part too.

That's it...I'm so NOT going to get the next edition of Quill...can't bear to see it...hehe...

Anyway, it turned out that it wasn't just a photoshoot for the Young Writers. Most of the people there for the photoshoot were actually REAL LIFE authors!!! You know, the kind who has published thick novels, etc...

There were only 3 Young Writers there, Deborah, Darrel, and me; all of which were the contributing authors t0 Rewind, Fast Forward (oh ya..go buy that book...hehe...)

And the thing is, everyone who approached us asked us the same first question: So what book did you write? It was really awkward to be asked, and talked to like an equal by these authors (ok, fine, I'm usually in awe of authors...) By the end of the day, the three of us had prcatically rehearsed the "oh, I'm not an author, I'm one of the MPH Young Writers...etc etc..." speech.

Finally came the photoshoot. Man, I have no idea how those famous people do it; its so uncomfortable to pose like we're talking, or looking at the Rewind, Fast Forward books or whatever. Ok, I'm getting really lazy to elaborate...it was just an awkward, yet hilarious hassle (we were not accustomed to acting "natural")

It was only after they got enough shots all around MPH that I could finally smooth down my "mane", and dive into the pile of books just begging to be read.

Oh well, it was a good experience anyway...=)

Us three Young Writers, as well as three Authors...

Form 6....

Ok guys, here is a bit about the form 6 in SS17. Well here goes, I am in the BIO class called 6BS2, which is also lower 6 science 2. The name kinda stupid, but heck, wat to do. Anyway, there is another 3 classes, 6Bs1, Arts 1 and Arts 2.

About the school, about the same size as SU, but the students there are half the quantity in SU. All 7 forms includin remove and form 6 only 1k plus. So the school kinda empty. Oh ya did I forget to mention that each block has one floor extra than SU, so screw the school!!! Walk so long just to get to class. (My class top floor). One more thing to add, every morning after the bell ring, we dont go straight to class, we have to sit at the assembly ground and wait to be called to go back to class one by one. Kinda annoying. Grrrr!!!!!

Ok, about my class. There is 13 students only. No malays, and 2 indians, so populated by yellow skins, although chee can be consider one brown skin there already. Gahahaha. Oh yea, there is only five dudes in my class too. Wilsen, chee, kah yew, jeasern and me. About the girls le, the only 2 from gamma is xinyi and rohini, there is ai li, jeamie, yee xian from SU.

About the upper six. One word. LAME!!!. Cold jokes, act cool, act smart and kinda bossy. So heck..... Why do i care about them...... But luckily(correct ah??) Only a handful like that.

Teachers le, kinda good you know. Surprisingly all can teach, quite well too. And only 1 malay teacher, and she is quite fun too. So i wouldnt say that SS17 is such a bad school.

So all in all, form 6, so far, not too bad la, still can survive. And the good news is Holidays in 1 week!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!! Gahahaha........

Oooppssss!!!! Sorry Lee Xin, really sorry. My bad forget to put your name. Due to HER own demand,Hehehehe...... Lee Xin also in my class. But she can choose whether she wanna come or not. Not fair!!

From the "Heart"...

Its more or less certain...My last day in Taylors will be the 8th of June...Then its bye Taylors, and hello Intec...

Ok, there'll be time for another emo emo emo emo emo post later on, for me to rant on Music Club, String Ensemble, )PM9, PLS, etc etc etc, but for now, lets keep things happy, shall we?

Bio lab on Thursday was FUN!!! Miss Lena actually asked us to look for a fresh cow heart, (yes, you heard right...COW HEART) but as none of us were able to came up with it, we had to make do with the old, formalin-soaked hearts instead. Well, considering we've NEVER seen a real heart, dead or alive before (except for the frog's one last year), we were F-A-S-C-I-N-A-T-E-D...

Ok, I thought us girls were bad enough...SS-ing and fighting to take photos with the cow & goat heart, but man...the guys...They were mimicking a clip we saw during LAN class, where David Blaine took his heart out. Well, this time, they filmed Christopher Blaine taking a goat's heart out of his own body...It was HILARIOUS...

Pictures are kinda blur, though...as it was take using a handphone...

Anyway, its been a long week of auditions, meetings, etc, and we've had the "privilege" of meeting up with entirely NOT punctual people, as did we have the pleasure of being entertained by singers who came for audition. Auditions are still on, so don't hesitate to call us!!!

Oh yeah, Pet Lover's Society will be having a talk here in Taylors on the 23rd of May...Come and support, ya.......

Lookie! I'm holding TWO REAL hearts!!!
"And class, this is what you call a Goat heart!"
Hmmm...Pics kinda blur...otherwise it would been really cute...From left: Me, Miss Lena, Yen, and Dong

Eat your heart out...=P

Mei Ying, Yen, and I

Tan yang , so many ppl fail in thier PT test is a normal thing, there are some ppl pass mock and also PT , but see lah the results after the finals , is hard to said wan........theres some over-confident person out there in sunway. whos tat? is better to find out urself.

Me? i even worse than u , guess how many comer for the test in inti last thursday? answer: 2 of them (including me), period. even the lecturer said ( and me also to myself ) : everybody in my batch confirm sure fail at least one paper!!!!!!. The worse part, this is my first test after almost six months! now which one is worse ? u or me?

anyway, u still qualify for finals , wish u all the best( inti is diffrent, how lousy u are, still can go for finals, they dont care wan)

By Blogger tanyang, at May 19, 2007 at 8:49 AM

i din't said tat u are over-confident, i said there is sumbody from our school like so over-confident, think very smart, no need to study.

i guess i cannot be patient with the way how inti treated me, even ppl recognise inti nilai over inti sj, so i may move early as a result, join july intake for T3 to T5.(maybe)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at May 19, 2007 at 9:56 AM

coma asap lah..
2 ppl in a class? = less girls = way less motivation to study.
understand? =P

hmmmm we are not over confident or smtg like tht, and we do not discriminate other center's student in any way. we pandang rendah at other center's teaching system only lah xD

actually you can join anytime lah..you can join the april intake's class..they are taking p3 - p6 next semester. and according to yee ching, like this better loh cuz less stress =)

Emo? Now?

Its only been 2 days since the results of the JPA scholarship was announced but goodness, the reaction seems to be overexaggerated in the emo sense.

But then, thanks for everything you guys have done for me, and well, the emotional reactions I've been getting from you guys, its really touching...*sniff*

For one thing, Erik and Hee Ian have actually posted farewell entries in their blogs, telling me not to forget them and all...gosh...its as if I'm flying off to Australia tomorrow. (Erik's even going on about belanja-ing me for a farewell karaoke session...etc...)

But then, while chatting with Kok Hong on msn, it suddenly became apparent how things have changed since secondary school. Kok Hong remarked "We used to say we'll study together and everything...", and somehow, our conversation dredged up memories of Form 2, sitting around in the library and promising that we (Erik, Kok Hong, and I) would later on further our studies in the same university (the guys had been making plans on copying my homework), take the same course, and probably work together as colleagues in the future. Ok, so we all wanted to be IMU graduate doctors then. But suddenly, it occured to me how naive we were back then. Kids with dreams and fantasies, but no idea what the harsh reality was.

Erik, Kok Hong, and I... from swordfights and pokemon in Form 1 to huge projects, study groups and countless SS photos (like this one) in Form 5.....

It seems so fast. In just a few years since our three-way pact to study together, Kok Hong went on to SAM while Erik and I did A-Levels. In this short time, I had choosen an entirely different path to study Vet Science, Kok Hong wavered off towards considering pharmacy, Erik rethinking his doctor ambition...

And well, its rare to see Kok Hong emotional, and not joking around, as he was on msn earlier. So was Kimberly, who usually had a joke or remark for everything, and Erik, who always swore he'll be glad to be rid of me. But now, to see these guys becoming so emotional when they got the news...

Not to mention all my other friends who found out...Sharon, Lixian, Hui Yen, Ling Hui, Basil, Hee Ian...all had emotional responses that got me reminiscing of all the good times before, and how much I myself would miss all of them. Jeez...I'm getting emo...(snap out of it, Shu...)

Really made me wonder, I still have more than 1.5 years here in Malaysia and all this emo-ing has started; what will things be like when its finally time to go?

I got JPA scholarship!!!

Kursus: Sains Perubatan Veterinar
Negara: Australia

Tahniah

Sukacita dimaklumkan bahawa saudara/ saudari telah berjaya dipilih dan ditawarkan Biasiswa Persekutuan di bawah Program Ijazah Luar Negara 2007.

Frankly, I'm thrilled...=D =D =D

But I suppose its goodbye to my friends in Taylors; PM9, Music Club, String Ensemble, Pet Lover's Society, etc? I've become unbelievably attached to the String Ensemble (its the highlight of my monday), I really don't wanna leave...and neither do I want to leave the Music Club committees nor Musical Night project, seeing how busy the project's getting now and the problems we're facing...=(

Wonder if they really mean the no appealing of location for the Kolej Persediaan...My teacher's daughter did successfully apply to stay in Taylors 2 years ago. Anyone has any idea how I may go about doing that?

Will probably know what college they'll be sending me to within this few weeks...Wonder if I can appeal then...=/

But then again, I got the chance to study Veterinary Medicine in Australia!

~~~~~
Congrats to everyone who got the scholarship, by the way, and for those who don't, do not despair, there's still hope with the appeal, and well, there's plenty of other scholarships available =)
~~~~~

Well, its a perfect end to a less-than perfect week. Received a surprise phone call from FELDA, saying that I was shortlisted for an interview (Wait, I actually applied for FELDA???)

Anyway, that meant I would have to miss at least half of the Music Club General Meeting. Cue guilty feeling, I never miss any club meetings if I can help it...

It didn't help that I was down with a mild case of food poisoning on Wednesday, which nearly made me throw up on my LAN paper, and rendered me lethargic for the rest of Thursday. In fact, it was only during the ICPU dinner on Thursday night that I had survived a record of 32 hours without food. (not that I was hungry, anyway)

Speaking of the ICPU dinner, it was my second performance with the violin, and man, I stand firm by my comments on the previous performance; I really am learning loads from the String Ensemble! This time, I played my first duet piece, my first triple stop...Goodness, Mr How'll be proud...

And Faye's right, it really is absolutely AWESOME to play duets!!!

Well, we didn't have much notice, therefore we really rushed to get the pieces (Entertainer, some classical piece, and Syncopatins) ready. Thank goodness the dinner was postponed to Thursday, and not the Friday before.

Special thanks to Faye, Jo Ann and Venny who performed as well; I really learnt loads from them. Thanks, guys...=D

From left: Venny, me, Faye, and Jo Ann. A noob playing amongst the seniors...

Madam & The Fantastic Four...Hehe...We may have left, but we're still a team...

Joy, Laughter and Fun...PSS SMKSU I remembered so well...

Oh yeah, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to Madam Khoo!!! I bet you're surprised that your ex-librarians actually held 2 celebrations for you this year, instead of the usual 1. Well, usually its Erik and I organising it together, but this time, as he couldn't make it on Tuesday, he organised on as well today! So, 2 celebrations, 2 cakes!!! (pictures will be posted up when my computer is repaired...using college com now...aihz...)

Felt wonderful to be back in SMKSU, visiting all my teachers...Made me reminisce about all the wonderful times we had; gathering, chatting, and working in the library...racing up and down the field in blistering heat, all in the name of QM duties...Barging to the front line of any event to get the best shots for the Photography Club...Gossiping, Chit-Chatting, and copying each other's homework in class (Gamma gang, I miss you guys...)...I'd never thought I'd say this, but I actually miss tuitions too!!! Or to be exact, the times I had with my friends in tuition, especially Addmaths, with the entire Dugong Family together.

And now, memories of all the good times in Taylors, will they become a past too?

The cheerful, boistrous class of PM9...Must I leave?

Biology Practical

For ur information,i always can't finish my bio pratical on time.Always have OT.My practical class ends at 4pm,but normally i did until 5.30pm..Terrible rite?Lolx...

But today miracle happened,i actually finished my practical before 4..So happy..Then those who had finished d pratical will have a chance to use d sphymomanometer n stethoscope to measure our blood pressure.This is one of my 'mong xiang',my dream..to use a stethoscope..It's so fun..Then me n my frens actually act as doctors by wearing d lab coats and holding d stethoscopes.Very SS n lame ,rite.But it's fun..

If i can play all these during every bio practical,then i'm sure i'll love bio pratical very much..I will try to post some of d "doctors'" pictures if i manage to get it from frens..=)

*Hope tat all of us can really gather at 27th May or during d holidays..Take care everyone..Dun fall sick ya.Nowadays d weather is so terrible,so must eat more vitamins,nutritious food n drink more water.>Sounds very cheong hei like a ma..Haha=)

Ice Skating, SPCA Stuff, and some COPYRIGHTED, interesting, and Very True Insights on BLOGGING..

Before I blog about the skating and the SPCA jumble sale (Which are all below this); here's wishing XL all the best in AIMST...All of us in PM9 will truly miss having you around. Haha...Don't forget our 6-years-in-advance dental appointment, future dentist...hehe...=P

Oh yeah, our KFC outing rocked...hehe...

PS: This is going to be a long post, as I'm just pasting the stuff I blogged in Notepad, waiting for the chance to post it all up...(Ice-skating outing, SPCA stuff, and some copyrighted, interesting and very true insights on blogging)

So anyway, it was the Award Presentation ceremony in our school, and I was SUPPOSED to go ice-skating wth Sharon and the gang after the ceremony. However, I was feeling really really lazy, and decided to decline the invitation. Turns out that didn't work out, as Chu was adamant about dragging me along. Then, Wyhow, Hee Ian and Basil kept asking me to go for lunch after the ceremony. Again, I wasn't really in the mood, but as adamant as they were, like Chu, and the fact that they were also headed to Pyramid's Kim Gary for lunch, I resigned myself to the fact that like it or not, I was headed to Pyramid that afternoon.

Chu Luei, Huey Jen, and I during the awards presentation ceremony in school

With the SMKSU-Taylors guys, Basil, Hee Ian, Wyhow, and Zhang Rei

The impromptu decision would have been fine, if it wasn't for the fact that I had not brought along a change of clothing. This meant, I had to SKATE wearing the same formal clothes that I wore to the ceremony!

The 4 of us (Basil, Hee Ian, Wyhow, Me) really attracted a lot of weird stares, especially Basil who was wearing a TIE!!! Later on, Erik joined us, but as he didn't attend the ceremony, he was in casual clothing, the odd one out among the bunch of "CEOs and GMs" =P

Later on, guess what; Sharon and gang actually came in through the doors of Kim Gary and had lunch at the exact same place. We finished our meal earlier, so Hon Lin promised to call me when they were done eating. The guys and I then went off for Boling.

Oh yeah, it seems the guys will really think twice (or thrice, for that matter) before they ask a girl to go along with them next time. And I, for one, have discovered the certain benefits of being the only girl in the whole group. Haha...For starters, ALL of them had to wait for me outside the washroom when I went in (what's it with guys and toilets anyway?). Also, as we had to share boling shoes, my size had to be taken into consideration as well, leading us to get another pair specially for Wyhow because his size was the outlier among us. (Man, that's it...Too Much Statistics...)

Halfway through the game, Hon called me, saying that they were ready to go for skating. I told them to go ahead, as I was having a lot of fun throwing (yes I THREW the ball...Still haven't figured out how to roll it) the ball into the "Longkang", and watching Basil and Hee Ian wince at their shots.

Playing boling in formal attire...Look at Basil, still wearing his tie...

Turns out, there was no escape for me, the gang actually came all the way to the boling area to "escort" me down...Oh well...

Skating was fun, really.

Maybe it was just me TTMS-ing, but I realised that, well, there're loads one can really observe through it.

Haha...For Sharon and Chu Luei who were noticeably intrigued, this is the Theory of Ice-Skating, as I jokingly called it.

For one thing, being able to skate properly really comes from the mind. I observed that most of th time we fell, it was because we instinctively shied away from any figure that seems to approach at high speed, though they veer away without collision. The act of jerking and shying away, now that really causes lack of control, and *crash*. So, being too paranoid, shying away from every figure that skids past at high speed; and one is more likely to fall. Get too cocky, and it's easy to lose control and go sprawling on the ice.

Another thing is control. When I helped Lee Xin, or anyone who wasn’t steady around the rink, I was actually stable. I could stand bumps, trips, etc without losing my balance. However, when Sharon clutched my hand and sped off, I was actually teethering off balance at most points, often tripping and losing my footing. Now why is it when I'm taken round by a pro, I sort-of panic (at least my legs do) and lose control, but when i'm helping someone around, I'm pretty much stable on the ice. A sense of being in control of the situation, maybe?

Of course, despite being careful, accidents do happen, through the carelessness of others and no fault of ours. And when that happens, just smile, have a laugh over it, and resume skating. Somehow, those who fall and immediately go off to recuperate return wary, and fearful about skating. Probably the reason why I was so fearful about skating when I first entered the rink today was because the last time I came, I had a nasty fall, hitting my head on the ice and was promptly sent out.

Well, overall, we really did have fun. The skating, avoiding the threatening presence of GJ (no way, you're making me fall), and well, just being with my dear old friends...(Oh yeah...*gloats*...i did NOT fall at all this time...Muahaha...)

The day ended with the same gang of four left together again (Sharon, GJ, Hon, and me). Somehow, it always ends up with the four of us, be it outings, or the A Famosa trip, etc etc etc. We ended up going for Flip, after seeing that Sharon couldn't take her eyes off her favourite Pyramid snack.*drools* It really was quite nice, though...

With Sharon just after ice-skating. There was actually a much cuter photo where she was "sleeping", but then again, if I post that...(slicing throat motion)

Oh yeah, there’s one more thing I learned. That everything happens for a cause, and there may be some good come out of it though I may have yet to really feel it. Nevertheless, I'm getting over it and I'm seeing things from a new light. I'm freeing myself, and though it still hurts, I suppose its for the better...*random...just ignore*

I met this UNBELIEVABLY C-U-T-E puppy Priscilla was fostering on the day of the SPCA jumble sale (details below). Sadly, poor fellow's half blind...

I arrived early, and fixing a Volunteer tag to my shirt, I was given a float and sent off to the Toys department. Goodness, there was a MOUNTAIN of toys on the tables! There were soft toys of all sizes and shapes (very filthy ones to, not to mention), as well as action figures and plastic toys.

Frankly, it was creepy to see the visitors that were waiting outside the gates of SPCA. They were peering through the bars like hungry wolves surrounding their prey (ok, exaggerating)

Ok, they were about exactly like the crowds in front of some Mega Sale, before the gates of the store opened. And the mad glint in their eyes as they peered through the gates...It was clear that they would barge in at first opportunity in a horrendous stampede...(visions of being trampled under a stampede of crazed shoppers)

And guess what; the seniors were casually telling us how the stampede would cause items to fall off the tables, etc etc etc...It was enough to send jitters up my spine. (lol...drama...)

Sure enough, the buyers barged in immediately when the gates swung open, and they began grabbing as many items as they could carry as I stood there dumbfounded. Ok, mention must be made that there was no price tag, and we could sell the items at any value we deemed appropraite. Well, that was exactly what I did, assessing the value of the (filthy and dusty) toys and selling them at "suitable" (for me) prices. However, I did NOT expect the buyers actually bargaining that much with me!!! (2 Ringgit? Tak Mau la...1 ringgit boleh? Boleh la...1 ringgit...2 ringgit mahal la...)

I'm not kidding, this is exactly the situation with MANY of the buyers here. Not to mention bargaining RM1 to RM0.50, and even asking us to throw in free items...Man, now I understand how the sellers in Petaling Street must feel when we bargain so much with them...

Finally after an hour or so, the horde of buyers began to thin, and we found ourselves shouting like Pasar Malam workers to attract more customers. And as closing time neared, our prices was at a rock-bottom "RM5 to fill up one bag!!! All the toys you want for RM5!!!"

The cleaning up after that was probably the most tedious part. Packing up leftover toys *sneeze*, wrapping up glassware, sweeping up rubbish on th floors...Somehow, I much prefer the normal days in SPCA, where the only "customers" we deal with is prospective adopters, and the only thing we clean is the dogs and their cages.

Followed Ee Lynn and Rachel out for lunch later on, and had a really nice time chatting with the two lawyers about pet dogs, pet cats, fostered puppies, animal cruelty, animal antics, etc etc etc yada yada bla bla bla...

When we returned, we continued the final part of the cleaning, which included dumping garbage, and scrubbing the floor. Exhausted, Ee Lynn went back later on, so no dog-walking for me...sob sob...Oh well, gotta wait for next week, I suppose...

Nevertheless, SPCA rocks...I love my job there. Haha...I guess I've finally understood what Ee Lynn said the very first time I met her last year, that once I started volunteering, it would be impossible to stop as I would know that I'm needed. Well, its true, the highlight of my entire week is always Saturday, SPCA day...

With Ee Lynn and Xiao Yeen; on duty at the toys section of the jumble sale

~~~~~
And speaking of SPCA...
I thought I was in a bad enough situation, with Phoebe infested with ticks and Rocmond with a parasite problem, but oh man, spending the day in SPCA today has really changed that. For one thing, Phoebe wasn't "infested", she merely had a minor brush with ticks. Now, the dogs we dealt with today, THAT'S what we call as INFESTED!!! Ticks were in clusters under the fur, and in every part of the dog's body. And man, they were actually visible even through the thick fur!!! Imagine a fine healthy Rottweiler which has white, yellow and brown patches peeking out of the thick clunp of fur...and when you sift away the hair, you find grape-like clusters of FAT, Blood-filled ticks attached to the skin around the neck, on the face, even around the eyes and IN THE EARS...
Oh, did I mentioned we de-ticked the dogs with our BARE HANDS...We pinched those resilient creatures from the skin and drowned them in a pail...And woe betide us should we accidentally smush the fat tick betwee our fingers, for the tick goo...eww...
(Mom was beyond grossed out when I told her)
Ok, I'm usually unfazed by such stuff, but this is pushing my limits...
But with the help of the a few volunteer aunties, I just gritted my teeth and did my tick-hunting-and-annihilating job until there came a point where disgust just didn't register anymore.
All those spots in the water are actually ticks. This was taken when we were a QUARTER-WAY done with de-ticking the FIRST dog. So, can you imagine how many there were after we de-ticked THREE HUGE DOGS?
Haha...add that to the amount of visitors today, and of course my favourite dog-walking...I'm beat...*flops*
Oh yeah, Sandy, the firstSPCA dog I was given the privilege to name, is FINALLY ADOPTED!!!!! *jumps for joy* And so is Ti Ti...the soft, cuddly, little scamp in the picture below...
Oh yeah, I copied this (without permission, mind you) from Faye's blog. *in unison with Wan Kimm* "She really hit the nail on the head!". Hmmm, read it, and tell me does it ring a bell with some of you bloggers out there??? I've had a taste of it before, I'm sure many of you bloggers probably have too...(PS: Sorry for the infringement of copyright laws...Just thought it should be shared...hehe...)
Ok, from what I gather, here's the psycology of blogging. The anti-blog people say that if you want to let people read about your life and thoughts, then be prepared for bumpy occurances with readers. But bloggers actually want people to read about their lives and what's going on. Stuff like how they celebrated their friend's birthday or frustrations over the last test which you thought you flunked (but didn't). It's not so much of 'I want you to see how my life is my much better than yours' than 'here's what's going on, read it so we'll have something to talk about the next time we meet.' In other words, it's more of a social thing. However, there are exceptions.
There are some things bloggers don't want people to know about. Let's say somebody wants to rant about some feelings towards to opposite sex. But he/she knows that if he/she does that then the world will know, friends will start teasing etc. So that person may or may not blog about that particular thing. Either way, it causes some form of sub-conscious frustration. And it kinda builds up, depending on how well that dude deals with it.
People blog certain things because there's certain things that they want cetain people to know about. Anyone who has blogged will know that receiving non-hostile comments (usually from friends) can make you extremely happy, the dopamines-in-your-head sort of happy. I'm sure many people do check their blogs just to see if anyone commented. That's the rewarding part. However, there are readers who will disagree with your views and they will voice out their opinions, sometimes strongly. And that's when you get chatbox wars, spam and the like, and that's when people will spend time to type stuff like 'this is my blog and my opinions, if you don't like/don't agree, then don't read' et cetera et cetera at the beginning of their posts.
So, what bloggers want is an outlet to express themselves and their views, and to share whatever experiences or inspirations they've got. What bloggers don't want is people telling them why whatever they wrote was wrong, or people telling them they're bimbo or slutty or gay or arrogant or stupid or [insert negative adjective].
HEAR HEAR... =)
Getting d scholarship cert=)
At 28th of April,i went for d Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship Award Presentation.What a long name..It's a saturday,but still had to wake up early..HAiz..What to do?I want to get d cert ma..
My dad accompanied me to tat ceremony.At first he did not want to go,but i beg him cos i tot everyone's parents r going.Then when i reached college,i noticed tat all my classmates parents not coming..Haiz..But luckily,there r still a lot of parents in d hall,such as Sharon's cutie mum n Guo Joon's parent.so my dad was not d only one.
Oh ya,i got a fren named Yee Kuan(some of u know her rite).She is really an expert in making parents happy.She saw my dad, said tat my dad looks very young,just like 10 years older than me only.My dad felt so happy.Then Yee Kuan n i met Sharon's mother.As usual,i called auntie as '4 da mei ren',but just imagine wat Yee Kuan addressed auntie.She called auntie as 'jie jie'(sounds so young).I can see tat Sharon's mum was so pai seh+happy till really can fly to d sky..HAha..After tat,everyone called Sharon's mum as jie jie.Lol..
After d stupid cert-giving ceremony,v have to stay back for photo session(for all Sunway scholars).Then all d Catholic,DJ,DU,SU,USJ13,USJ12 students had to stay back for our high school photo session somemore.So weird.I think tat's bcos SU 'hen ai mian zi'.Only about 10 of SU-ians took d picture.(Adeline,Vanessa,Wen Ying,Yan Qi,Sharon,Guo Joon-who is d only guy,me,Ng Wan Xin,Sin Dee...)Mei San left earlier.
After d whole caremony,i considered officially 'got ' d RM 6000 from my dad.Cos Sunway will subsidised d RM6000 form our 2nd semester tuition fees.But in d other hand,my dad will give me back d RM6000.Yeh!!!i can use d money to buy a better violin...Hooray..I also hope tat i can buy a new handphone(with nice MP3,camera,bluetooth,games n some very 'chun' things la).Cos everytime when there's a break,my classmates will take out their handphones n play many nice songs.I'm so jealous..So i want a geng geng hp also..haha..
On tat ceremony day,i din really took pictures.Just a few(pic with classmates n d pics with all scholars).Some of d pictures r still with my fren.When i got it,then i'll post it.
Tat's part of my class(D girl wearing a dress is Yee Kuan)
To all of u,i miss u guys so much.*emo again*Really look forward to d semester break.Then v can plan other outings during tat time.For those who'll be having exam soon(including me),good luck ya..GAmbate..
*Chu,Lee Xin,Hikari,Goon*
School gonna start rite?All d best ya..Hope u guys will enjoy d life there..
Take care,buddies..
