ANIME FEST 2007, and LAST DAY IN TAYLOR'S

INTEC tomorrow.........

That makes today officially my final day in Taylor's...And what a last day it was; a hectic but undoubtedly fun day of running up and down during the Anime Fest, and finally, rounded up with a delicious but ridiculously expensive dinner at Swensens (I hope I spelled that right) paid for with our earnings for the day.

This is going to be a really brief post, by the way. I really really need to pack. I'll post the pictures and elaborate more after I load my own pics in my com, and after the rest send me theirs *nudge hint Faye, Ian, Siak Gee*

Reached Taylor's at 7 something, as there was a hell lot of things that hadn't been done, ie; finishing up the makeshift changing rooms, printing the judging schemes, getting ready for LAST MINUTE CONTESTANTS etc etc etc...

But WOW...Ok, I've never ever been to any cosplay event before, so when I barged into the hall carrying registration lists, I was momentarily stunned by all the cosplayers around, wearing elaborate costumes and with hair that was done up almost EXACTLY like the characters. And to think barely two months ago, I didn't even know what was a Cosplayer........................

After Ian gave his speech, which, by the way I wrote for him when I was half asleep yesterday, Yen, Shan, Gee, and I had to perform our Lucky Star dance, the most hyper and (in sharon's terms) Act-Cute dance I've seen in a while. And by the way, I DON'T dance. I've NEVER danced on stage before, unless you count the time in kindergarten which I barely even remember.

Omg, when I watched the video that Faye recorded after the dance it became apparent how horribly uncoordinated we were, specially at the CHEERLEADING part...

Oh yeah, did I mention that we were dancing in my LIBRARIAN'S SCHOOL UNIFORM??

Anyway, as we had opened our cosplay contest for last minute registration, Faye, Wei Shan and I were up to our eyes in work, briefing cosplayers, printing and photocopying judging schemes, arranging order of participants, dealing with their needs, such as music, etc...

Credits to the Coordinators and the Registration for somehow being able to handle the sudden rush of participants to join our contest. It was truly a success, considering that before this, we only had THREE registered participants, Now, we had more than 10!!!

Thank goodness Faye came up with the order of the participants, otherwise, we would have been really really lost...

The cosplayers were really cool and each of them played their part out pretty well. Ok, I actually feel like elaborating the characters one by one, but somehow, most of the names escape me...I know there's a girl in a flowing blue costume, some Akatsuke leader, some characters from Bleach, one kung fu master (or mistress) who wowed the crowd with her performance with various kung fu weapons.

We could all relax later on during the PS2 competition, and everyone took the opportunity to move around taking pictures of and with the Cosplayers. Man, I really really am getting a Crash Course in Anime 101 as Faye said, two weeks ago, I didn't know any character outside Geass, Wolf's Rain, and Death Note but now, at LEAST I can recognise some of the more famous ones, thanks to Faye who was quoting names and anime series everywhere we went. (I forgot most of them, though...Too many japanese names...)

At 2pm, the bustle to prepare for the karaoke contest began, and once again, we had to rush to get the order of the participants, and even worse; compile their songs in the right order. Trouble arose, however, when one of the contestants songs was accidentally deleted and there was no way we could go online to download it. Wei Shan and I rean to Mac Center and later on, IK, hoping to be able to use the internet there but there wasn't a connection either.

When Shin's friend returned with a downloaded version of the song, we were horrified to find that it was the wrong one. Once again, I had to dash to Asia Cafe with him to download the right version of the song, all within that few minutes!

By the time I returned, I couldn't help coughing incessantly...Somehow, whenever I run too fast, I tend to cough a lot when I stop. No idea why, though...

Thank heavens for the can of Green Tea that Faye got for me when I returned, and could finally settle down to watch the performance.

Don't have time to elaborate anymore...my 10 minutes is up...I'll just wrap this up...

Took more pictures with the cosplayers and watched the finale of the PS2 competition before it was time to call it a day. We dismantled the makeshift changing rooms, arranged the classrooms in order, cleared the hall, and finally, counted our earnings, which, by the way, amounted to..............*drumrolls*

MORE THAN RM2000!!!!!!!!!

*jumps for joy*

Indeed, it was more of a success than I'd ever thought it would be, and everyone worked very well as a team, sacrificing time, energy, and sleep throughout the days leading to the event.

It was about 7pm when we finally cleared everything, and Ian then decided to go somewhere nice to celebrate (with our earnings). It was sort of like a farewell for me, and I was beginning to feel kinda emo about leaving Taylor's...

Guess where our destination was: TGI Friday!!!!

Yes, all of us committees WALKED to Subang Parade, all for the sake of celebrating. And as TGI Friday's was fully booked, we ended up eating in Swensen's (which I've never ever set foot in before), eating a scrumptious dinner, with lemon flavoured iced water and some of the most amazing ice-creams I've ever saw!!!!! Mine was, as they said, several "storeys" high, and I really did have trouble finishing it. In fact, I DIDN'T finish the last bit...Kok Peng ate it up for me...

And the bill...RM 432!!!!!!!! There goes our earnings...

Overall, it was truly a memorable Last day in Taylor's. I really am going to miss everyone; Hui Yen, Wei Shan, Siak Gee, Faye, and the rest of my friends who made my 6 months in Taylor's a truly wonderful experience. Thanks for everything you guys have done for me...

Ja ne, minasan.......and Keep In Touch.............
