JPA Interview

Shu here...

Thought I'd share my experience during the JPA interview, since until now, Jen hasn't posted here at all...*cough cough hint hint*

JPA interview is over...Yay...

Finally, the days of surfing ReCom, reading up on RMK 9, interrogating post-interviewees, and sorting out stacks of certs are over...

PS: Credits to Mom and Dad for doing all they could to prepare (you know, I think they were more gan cheong than me...) and to all those I've been bugging for information...

I was pretty much nervous for the entire day, but making a trip to school just to tie up lose ends really helped. Hey, I miss school so much, any trip back is fun...Back to the library, meeting madam, and the teachers...

Oh yeah, Pn. Beh gave me a LOOOOOOOOONG lecture on preparation for the interview...lol...

*fast-forward to the interview* (no mood to describe the hectic moments before...So stressed)

I got there pretty early..(2 hours early, to be precise) and after checking my panel (panel 1) and room (room 12), and schedule (test first, then interview), I just muled around Putrajaya Convention Center, randomly greeting familiar faces wherever I met them.

I bumped into Wei Yan there also.She was in the same group as Wil Sen. And very coincidental...She was interviewed by the exact same panel that interviewed Zhang Rei...Lol...

XL (my classmate in college) and I were uncertain for quite time whether we should register in front of our specific interview rooms, therefore we went up and down, in and out of the interview area and the exam area...What a sight we must have been, taking the escalator up and down...

The psychology test...282 questions and only half an hour...Luckily Jo Ann (string ensemble friend) warned me the day before that I had shade my answers fast, and that was exactly what I did. Nearly ran out of time, though. And well, occassionally I did stop to think, was I answering according to my own personal belief, or was I following some sort of norm with the questions (there are some questions you just have to say yes to...)

Man...did my hand ache from all that rushed shading after the exam...Not to mention it was freezing...Bad for my wrist, especially since it barely recovered from tendonitis...

Immediately after, we proceeded to the interview. There wasn't even enough time for me to go to the washroom!!! Well, lucky for me, that's not really a necessity, even when I'm nervous...

There were 5 people in my group; 2 Girls, and 3 Guys. Make that 3 engineers, a scientist, and the veterinarian.

Ok, everything did NOT go as expected. Yet, I mean that in a good way. For one thing, I had been gearing up for a long introduction (IN BM) with my absymal bahasa skills, and all the interviewers asked to state our name and course intended...IN ENGLISH...*sigh of relief*

The interview topics were way different as well. What with ReCom information on 3rd class mentality, uniforms and fast food (and RMK9, for that matter), I had spent the week brushing up on my knowledge in current issues, but guess what. The first topic, for the BM discussion was:

Anda berada di atas sebuah bot. Bot tersebut mempunyai 5 orang:

Pemandu bot
Diri anda sendiri
Seorang adik perempuan kecil
Seorang mak cik tua
Musuh anda

Tiba-tiba, bot dilanda ribut. Bot hanya dapat meyelamatkan 4 orang sahaja. Siapakah yang akan anda pilih untuk korbankan, dan mengapa.

????? =\

Oh well...At least it did give me a chance to state some nonsense in broken Malay. Didn't fare too badly, but nothing special either. My answer was actually rather similar to others.

The english topic, now that, was funny.

Decribe a cartoon character that best resembles you. (if not cartoons, any shows are fine...)

Uh oh...

Now for this one, I REALLY crapped. Somehow the cartoon character (no, I'm not going to reveal it online...Ask me personally if you really have to know) did allow me to mention about my own personality and passion. Other than my (anonymous) character, we had one Dexter, one Jimmy Neutron, one Doraemon (LOL) and one character from the movie 'Legally Blonde'.

I must say, I was rather lucky. My interview was held in a most light-hearted manner, and survived through it with that dorky (nervous-hiding) grin plastered on my face throughout the interview. Some of the panels, I heard, were far stricter and almost everyone had to discuss current issues.

Overall, I suppose I didn't do too badly, although there were much more I really should have said. The only problem that really Really REALLY botherd me was the air-conditioning!!! It was icy cold in the interview room, and for once, I did NOT have the sense to wear slacks or something like that. In fact, the rest of my group members were all clad in pants, even the girl. i was shaking and shivering noticeably...Couldn't stop it...Really hope they don't attribute that to fear of the interview...Oh well, forget it...I'm free from this JPA burden until the first week of May...

GOOD LUCK, all JPA applicants!!!

~~~
Thinking of a hell load of stuff...about myself and about others...Nothing anyone seems to be able to do, though...Not that they know...Nothing that should be placed on public domain...Just for me to ponder on...Probably, I'll just bury it, and wait until it resurfaces one day...
~~~

Oh yeah, I suppose my anime-fan friends (Yen, Kimm, Faye) will probably be gloating uncontrollably after they found out about this, but I actually did go look up some anime on youtube..And well, I suddenly found some interest for Code Geass...The first episode was undeniably entertaining...Hmmm...Maybe I should reconsider my "I-Don't-Watch-Anime" statement...=\
